As we wrap up 2022, let's take a look back at what happened in 2022 at Samsung Electro-Mechanics.
ㅣSamsung Electro-Mechanics, a top-notch tech company
In April, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced the development of MLCCs for automotive powertrains. The powertrain is a key driving component in automobiles that requires high reliability for internally mounted parts. In other words, only a few companies can mass-produce this product due to the technical complexity because it must operate normally even in harsh environments. We are expanding our automotive MLCC lineup with advanced materials and process technologies.
In June, Samsung Electro-Mechanics also announced additional investment in package substrates. The investment was to respond to the increasing demand for package substrates in line with high-performance semiconductors and market growth. Later, in November, we became the first in Korea to develop and mass-produce a semiconductor package substrate for servers. FCBGA for servers requires high reliability and production yield control, making it difficult for latecomers to start the business.
ㅣESG MESSAGE from Samsung Electro-Mechanics
In 2022, Samsung Electro-Mechanics also took the lead in ESG management. We actively helped suppliers to strengthen their ESG capabilities by holding a communication forum with CEOs of suppliers and Win-Win Day. As a result, we received the highest rating in the Shared Growth Index.
We also continued our resource recycling efforts to create a sustainable environment. All of our plants in Korea obtained Zero Waste To Landfill (ZWTL) certification. ZWTL certification evaluates a company’s resource recycling efforts. In particular, the Suwon plant was selected as a Leader in Resource Circulation with Outstanding Performance and received the President's Award.
Our other ESG achievements include publishing a sustainability report, participating in Earth Hour, expanding Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certified products, and being included in the FTSE4Good index for 12 consecutive years.
ㅣEnhanced online product marketing
Starting with the opening of our online exhibition hall in February, we participated in various exhibitions such as Seoul E-Prix, KPCA, and Electronica 2022. At these exhibitions, Samsung Electro-Mechanics introduced new products and technologies as well as future technology trends. Particularly at KPCA and Electronica, which were held in the second half of the year, we resumed in-person meetings to strengthen customer relationships.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics continued to provide product/technical data through our website and social media channels in 2022. Tech Articles and Training Videos explain in detail the characteristics and structure of Samsung Electro-Mechanics components and technology trends by application. The services are available in different languages and accessible via Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ website and YouTube/LinkedIn pages.
The Samsung Electro-Mechanics newsroom will keep you up to date in 2023 as well. We wish you another strong year in 2023.
